BOTOX®
It seems like everybody is talking about BOTOX® cosmetic, the highly effective, non-surgical procedure that can dramatically reduce your toughest wrinkle. BOTOX® is used on the upper portion of the face and targets the wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows' and the crow's feet. One ten-minute treatment, a few tiny injections, can reduce wrinkles that took years to form.

BOTOX® is a natural purified protein produced by a bacterium that works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles. BOTOX® is FDA approved and minimally invasive with no downtime or recovery. BOTOX® treatments typically last between 3-6 months.

Restylane®

Restylane® was recently approved by the FDA for use in the United States and has been used in Europe and Canada for nearly a decade. It is an injectable gel, unlike Collagen, which is a paste composed of saline, local anesthesia, and the Collagen material itself. It is used for filling moderately deep wrinkles and depressions on the face and forehead. Restylane consists of hyaluronic acid, a normal component of human skin, and is made synthetically using bacteria, then sterilized. It is not made out of other animals, so there is no need for allergy testing. It lasts longer than Collagen under equivalent circumstances. The pain of injection can be well controlled by using specific topical anesthetics and nerve blocks.

Collagen
Collagen is FDA approved and has been safely used for decades to smoothen lines and wrinkles on the lower face. Made from a protein like those in our own skin, Collagen gives its best results when injected into wrinkles around the mouth and lower cheek. It can also be used to augment the lip, creating a fuller and more youthful shape. The material is absorbed by your own body and requires repetitive treatments. Collagen lasts between 4-6 months and requires skin testing prior to use.

Chemical Peels
Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin which is typically performed on the face, neck, or hands. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to "blister" and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.

Mild scarring and certain types of acne can also be treated with chemical peels. In addition, pigmentation of the skin in the form of sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, splotching due to taking birth control pills, and skin that is dull in texture and color may be improved with chemical peeling.

JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel
JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel is a "next generation" smooth gel, non-animal dermal filler. It offers a natural look/feel and longer-lasting results than Restylane - up to six months or longer because it offers the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid and a special formulation process. This process creates a smooth gel that flows easily into the skin, creating smooth, natural looks.
The smooth consistency may also help to minimize the discomfort that can sometimes occur during the injection. Individual results will vary, but most patients see results for approximately 6 to 9 months. Typical JUVEDERM® Injectable Gel treatments include smoothing and contouring smile lines or nasolabial folds, wrinkles at the corner of the mouth, lip enhancement and augmentation, acne scars, facial defects or recessions, frown lines, modest enhancement or correcting asymmetrical features.

Fractional Skin Resurfacing
The Palomar Lux1540™ Fractional Laser delivers light in an array of high precision microbeams. These microbeams create narrow, deep columns of tissue coagulation that penetrate well below the epidermis and into the dermis, while sparing the tissue surrounding the columns from damage. The coagulated tissue within the columns initiates a natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy tissue. This treatment requires minimal downtime and can be significantly more comfortable than machines that deliver beams over longer periods of time.

Skin Tightening

The Palomar LuxIR™ Fractional Hand piece sends infrared light pulses deep into the dermis, where it creates a carefully controlled area of elevated temperature. This light causes tissue coagulation which leads to remodeling the collagen within the dermis. The remodeled collagen fills in the wrinkles and sagging, for overall skin tightening. The LuxIR fractional method is much safer and more comfortable than the bulk heating approach of many other systems because it leaves so much of the skin unaffected. It also uses a 3-stage Cooling. It cools the skin before, during, and after each light pulse, so you feel little discomfort during treatment.

Perlane®
Perlane® is an injectable filler used to treat deep facial lines, augment the lips and contour the cheeks and chin. Made by the same company that produces Restylane®, Perlane contains purified hyaluronic acid, a sugar found naturally in the body that works with collagen to keep the skin smooth and supple. It is hypoallergenic and so does not require a pre-treatment skin test. With its unique ability to bind with water, Perlane continues to perform up to 60% longer than collagen.

LATISSE® Solution
LATISSE® Solution is the first and only FDA approved treatment for hypotrichosis of the eyelashes. Hypotrichosis is another name for having inadequate or not enough eyelashes. LATISSE® Solution is a breakthrough treatment to enhance eyelash prominence by increasing length, thickness, and darkness. Available only through prescription, LATISSE® Solution is a once-daily treatment applied to the base of the upper eyelashes. Patients using LATISSE® Solution can expect to experience longer, fuller, and darker eyelashes in as little as eight weeks, with full results in 16 weeks.

Dysport®

Dysport is an FDA-approved injection treatment used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles in the forehead. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport is injected directly into the site of wrinkles to prevent the underlying muscles from contracting. Dysport injections are made from the bacterium Clostridum botulinum, the same protein used in Botox injections.

Dysport was developed in Europe during the early 1990s, and has been used there successfully for several years. In April 2009, Dysport was approved by the FDA for use in the US, and is expected to rival Botox, the most popular cosmetic procedure, with its convenience and long-lasting results.
