What Causes Cellulite?

Fibrous cords, called septae, run through the layer of fat cells between your skin, connecting it to the muscle beneath. As the skin begins to thin, the fibrous cords begin to pull downward and the fat cells push upward. This downward pulling is the cause of the dimpling or ripping–what we know of as cellulite.

QWO Targets The Source of Cellulite

QWO (rhymes with go) is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that is designed to dissolve septae, the fibrous cords that pull downward and cause the cellulite dimples. QWO is the first injectable of its kind.

QWO is made from an enzyme called Collagenase Clostridium Histolyticum, which destroys the collagen protein that builds septae. QWO dissolves and releases these fibrous cords, which helps redistribute your fat cells evenly. Additionally, QWO stimulates the growth of new collagen, which generates stronger, renewed skin. This combined effect smooths away cellulite and leaves the skin firmer and tighter.

Benefits of QWO

QWO provides a number of benefits for women who are experiencing cellulite in the buttocks:

  • Provides long-lasting results
  • Is a safe, minimally-invasive injectable treatment
  • Reduces cellulite in the buttocks
  • Helps to firm and tightens the skin
  • Improves the skin within a few weeks
  • Boosts confidence and personal satisfaction with the appearance
  • Provides long-lasting results

What can I expect during a QWO treatment?

Before your QWO treatment, you we will ask you to stand fully relaxed with your feet slightly apart. This makes the cellulite dimples more easily apparent, allowing us to select the dimples that are best for treatment. Each dimple will be marked with a dot and circled–a maximum of 6-12 dimples per buttock.

As the treatment is not described to be painful, there is no need for a numbing cream or anesthetic. You will lie face down for the treatment, while QWO is injected into the buttocks in specific, areas to dissolve the septae causing those dimples. Once the injections are complete, you will remain lying down for another five minutes or more to allow the treatment to take full effect in the targeted areas. The treatment takes about fifteen minutes to complete.

Recovery and Results

Once the treatment is complete, you will experience a sore feeling in the injection site for a few days. There is no downtime required, but you can expect some bruising, which is most significant after the first treatment. This can be compared to the sensation you experience in your muscles you experience after a strong workout. You can get right back to your day and continue with all of your usual routines and activities.

The QWO process is completed with two more treatments over the next six weeks. You will see an improvement within the following three weeks. 28 days after the third and last injection treatment, you will be able to see the final results, which will appear as a significant decrease in cellulite of the buttocks, and smoother, stronger skin. QWO results last for a year or longer.

Am I a Candidate for QWO?

While the QWO treatment is not indicated for men, women who have moderate to severe cellulite are likely ideal candidates for QWO. Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Are not allergic to collagenase or to the other ingredients of QWO
  • Have cellulite in the buttocks (QWO is for the buttocks, but not for the thighs or arms)
  • Have more clearly defined cellulite dimples
