What to Expect
RHA injections are straight-forward, minimally-invasive, and very quick. Just before the procedure, Dr. Moran will examine your skin and identify the treatment area. She will then apply a topical anesthetic, which will take effect in about 20 minutes.
If your lips are being treated, she will perform regional nerve blocks to enhance your comfort. Once the treatment area is sufficiently numb, she will inject the RHA filler. RHA fillers contain an additional anesthetic, called lidocaine. As such, you will feel some degree of numbness in the treated area after your appointment.
Just as when you are at the dentist, the anesthesia can occasionally affect the movement of your face, but this is temporary and will wear off within an hour or so.
