Meet Dr. Moran

Dr. Moran is one of Tennessee’s most credentialed Facial Plastic Surgeons and a leading provider of dermal fillers and BOTOX injections. She’s the only female Double Board-Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in the state, and the first female president of the AAFPRS. In addition, she serves as an assistant professor in the department of otolaryngology at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

What is RHA?

Short for Resilient Hyaluronic Acid, RHA fillers are touted to be the world’s first dynamic fillers, and rightly so. It’s the only FDA-approved filler that works effectively on dynamic facial wrinkles and folds.

Introduced by Revance, the fillers show visible results when used on the lips, jowls, cheeks, and more. Currently, the RHA collection includes three filters that are recommended for adults aged 22 years and above.

What can RHA do for you?

What to Expect

RHA injections are straightforward, minimally invasive, and very quick. Just before the procedure, Dr. Moran will examine your skin and identify the treatment area. She will then apply a topical anesthetic, which will take effect in about 20 minutes.

If your lips are being treated, she will perform regional nerve blocks to enhance your comfort. Once the treatment area is sufficiently numb, she will inject the RHA filler. RHA fillers contain an additional anesthetic, called lidocaine. As such, you will feel some degree of numbness in the treated area after your appointment.

Just as when you are at the dentist, the anesthesia can occasionally affect the movement of your face, but this is temporary and will wear off within an hour or so.

After Your Appointment

Your experience after the injections will depend on the extent of your bruising and swelling. In general, these effects dissipate quickly, within a few hours to several days. Different areas of the face are more likely to bruise and swell, and blood thinners can impact your response. This will all be discussed prior to your treatment so you can plan accordingly.

The Results

When all of your swelling and bruising (if any) has resolved, you should expect to see a lovely, natural result that can last approximately one year. It can be enhanced at any time and can also be removed if desired using an enzyme.
